Visualizing Local Education Data
With advances in education technology happening at a blistering pace, 3rc is working diligently with local software companies to explore new ways to help educators visualize student data. The visualization of student level data through dynamically created charts, graphs, and executive style dashboards, makes it easy for an educator to obtain an accurate assessment of the academic health of its district.
In Pennsylvania, districts work closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Education to collect and submit information about their district and their students. This information is stored in a statewide longitudinal data system called the Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS). PIMS is a powerful and innovative resource for educators across the State.
3rc in partnership with local districts and the 3rc Education Committee has been leveraging similar local resources to the benefit of our students. Over the past two years, 3rc has completed several successful pilot projects with a number of local districts looking to visualize their internal student and district data. While completed at the local level, the lessons learned during these pilot projects will help us to better understand how we can utilize the undeniable strengths of a statewide longitudinal data system.
Stay tuned for more information about our exciting work as we continue to provide educators with the innovative tools and information analysis they need to make better decisions that lead to better lives for their students.
