Mayor to Appoint Dr. Dara Ware Allen to School Board #2 Position
We are pleased to announce that 3rc Board Member, Dr. Dara Ware Allen has recently been given the honor to serve the children of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. We know that Dara will bring a fresh perspective to the challenges that are facing every urban school system in the US. Elbie Yaworsky Named New Executive Director of 3 Rivers Connect
Following a three month executive search process, 3 Rivers Connect announced today it has appointed Elbie Yaworsky its new executive director. Yaworsky, acting interim director since April 6th, was selected to lead 3rc, a Pittsburgh based regional nonprofit that empowers communities with informational insight that leads to action.

Report Validates the Importance of PA Afterschool Programs
The Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) today said they agree with findings and recommendations in the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee's (LBFC) Afterschool Report, which assessed the availability and affordability of afterschool programs in Pennsylvania.

April 2009:

Foundation gives Pittsburgh Promise $2.5M
The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation is giving $2.5 million to the Pittsburgh Promise, a $250 million college scholarship fund meant to improve the city's schools and stem student exodus.
