DRP

Working with leaders in primary and secondary education, 3rc has applied our federated search solution to a broad collection of education resources at the local, regional, state, national and even international levels. By using the Dynamic Resource Portal (DRP), educators can spend less time looking for resources and more time instructing students.
A single search returns the most effective resources, combining results from licensed resources, as well as open government and industry educational resource repositories. DRP also provides a convenient vehicle for sharing resources with others, within your organization and across your field.
For educators, DRP...
• Accesses credible resource collections including the PA Standards Aligned
System, Curriki, OER Commons, and ScienceEducation.gov.
• Empowers teachers and administrators with the opportunity to submit self-generated resources in an effort to create a culture of collaboration between educators.
• Provides search options that enable users to search individual collections,
specify a range of publication dates, or select from other advanced features
most appropriate for their search.
• Leverages a state-of-the-art five-star algorithm that highlights the best results.
Additional Background and Research:
The original inspiration for DRP was generated in January of 2009 by another 3rc Initiative called the Classroom Excellence Initiative (CEI). The DRP Proof of Concept White Paper can provide additional information to help an individual understand the underlying resource access challenges that we believe should be addressed over time in the educational industry.
In July of 2009, a separate enterprise search research effort was documented with the subsequent report: Enhanced Search for Educational Resources—A Perspective and a Prototype from ccLearn. 3rc leveraged this excellent body of work to help guide the development of the DRP solution.
In July of 2010, US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan launched “The Learning Registry Project” to address the fact that educational resources are everywhere but are not easily found. The building of the federal learning registry will provide efficient public access to digital learning resources. 3rc looks forward to the opportunity to integrate learning registry digital educational resources into the Dynamic Resource Portal (DRP).
