Analyzing Community Data

By Kevin Perkey on October 26, 2010

Over the summer, 3rc had the distinct privilege to work with the Environmental Charter School at Frick Park (ECS). ECS is the only Charter School in Southwestern PA with a mission to “educate each student to high academic learning standards using a themed curriculum that will foster knowledge, love of and respect for the environment and the will to preserve it for future generations.”

3rc collaborated with ECS to provide information analysis services to evaluate the surrounding communities within which ECS students live. Using several sources of data including the 2000 Census, 2006-2008 America’s Community Survey, 2009-2010 National Center for Education Statistics, and local student performance data for ECS, 3rc created a compelling analysis. 3rc’s work helped ECS to better understand a wide variety of variables that play roles in how well their students perform and how well ECS supports the needs of their students. ECS is actively digesting this understanding to build actionable strategies to help their students achieve greater success.

By having the right information at the right time, 3rc helped ECS turn data into action, pushing the achievement of their students to great new heights. To learn more about 3rc and our information analysis services, please visit our Analysis page at: www.3rc.org/analysis.
